Lovecraft is very, very, very metallic. As a result, it’s a little gritty, and it’s on the whole, somewhat drying, even if it wears well and lasts six and a half hours. It just wasn’t comfortable to wear, and the high metallic finish made it look chunky/gritty applied. It was quite pigmented, though, and maybe mixed with a little gloss, it would be easier on the lips, both in terms of application as well as for how it feels when worn.

It had rich, opaque color coverage, and it applied evenly and smoothly without pulling or tugging at the lip. The consistency is just creamy enough to glide on but not slide around the lip, so it stays in place well and lasted me six and a half hours when I wore it. If you love matte finishes for your lipsticks but find a lot of formulas drying or unforgiving, Burberry’s Lip Velvet is one of the better ones I’ve come across. It’s really comfortable to wear and doesn’t dehydrate my lips.

Neon Red had rich, true-to-tube color with full coverage. The consistency is lightly creamy, slightly slick, and it applied easily without tugging or dragging along the lips. Despite the slickness, I didn’t have issues with the color feathering while I wore it for six hours. It was lightly hydrating and did leave a faint stain behind after it wore away.

It’s incredibly rich in color and yielded full color coverage in nearly one pass. The consistency is very creamy, though slightly thick (not as thick or as heavy as YSL’s Rouge Voluptes). Rogue glided over the lips without pulling or tugging. I thought I might have issues with the color feathering, because of the texture, but I didn’t have any issues with feathering or bleeding outside of the lip. This shade lasted six and a half hours on me, and it was lightly hydrating during that time. It’s also supposed to plump (“without the usual tingle”) using “encapsulated hyaluronic spheres” (which are also supposed to help hydrate). I didn’t notice any tingle, and I can be hyper-sensitive to lip plumpers, and my lips seemed fuller, but I couldn’t tell you if it was the plumping or simply the bolder color combined with a healthy shine. There was no scent or flavor to this lipstick.
It's a really good formula overall, but I think the thickness/creaminess of the lipstick may feel too heavy for some, while others will appreciate the coverage and hydration of the formula.

It had rich, full color coverage when applied. The consistency is lightly creamy and glided evenly across lips without pulling or dragging. It’s touted as an opaque, hydrating formula. I found it to be lightly hydrating, but only for the first two to three hours. Sweet Nectar lasted five and a half hours when I wore it. There’s a sweet, somewhat synthetic, fruity scent that felt a bit cloying.

As one might expect, given the sheer, shiny color of the Rouge Coco Shine range, Melba had semi-sheer color payoff. On my lips, it lightened and brightened my natural lip color and evened out the color as well as concealed my lip freckle slightly. It has a lightweight, balm-like consistency that’s creamy, slick, and easy to apply. The lipstick glides on without tugging or pulling at the lip, and it is lightly hydrating while worn. The high shine finish lasts about an hour and a half, then it starts to dull, and all of it seems imperceptible after two hours of wear. It has a light floral fragrance.

It had mostly opaque color, and it had a satiny finish–not glossy but not matte–that gave lips a very smooth, even appearance. I noticed that the consistency of this shade was slightly looser compared to the others; thicker but not really thick, but it didn’t apply with as much coverage in a single stroke and tended to move around a bit more. If I pressed my lips together, slight lines would become visible where the color bunched up. Croisiere Coral wore well, though, and lasted five and a half hours when I wore it and was nicely hydrating during that time.
I had planned to pick this shade up off of Sephora next time I placed a Sephora order, but by the time that happened, it had sold out. The only place that I know of that you can purchase online is from Givenchy’s website directly (and they still have it at the time I wrote this review). You may still be able to find it at local Sephoras, though. Because it’s a limited edition shade for summer, it is actually packaged with a thin, white leather covering instead of black for the permanent Le Rouge shades. I’m even less keen about white leather than I was about the black leather, because it’s still thin and seems like it will be scratched easily, but now it’s likely to get dirt and dust and stains on it.

The Rouge Coco formula is lightly creamy, somewhat hydrating, and wears about average. They’re supposed to have “full-coverage” with finishes that vary from “matte to pearl to soft shimmer.” Both of these were mostly opaque, but there was a slight translucency that was apparent. It’s actually what gave them a lighter look once applied. These shades are new (and permanent!) for fall.

It had mostly opaque color payoff, and the consistency was creamy with more slip than other shades in the Le Rouge range. Because it had more slip, when I pressed my lips together, I could see slight lines forming because of the lipstick bunching up on itself. The formula was still hydrating, though, and it lasted five and a half hours and left behind a soft, pinky stain. Croisiere Fuchsia is part of the limited edition summer collection, so it is packaged with a thin layer of white leather around the tube rather than black leather (as the permanent range is).

OCC Fragmented Metallic Lip Tar ($18.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “metallic acid green shade.” It’s a brightened, chartreuse green with gold and lime shimmer and a metallic finish. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise, but I don’t know of any other lip color like this–the best I could suggest would be to take a loose eyeshadow or crumble up a pressed one in a chartreuse hue and pat onto lips. You could add a little gloss to help it mix together. MAC Spring Bean is somewhat similar, but it is a gloss and is sheer.
The sheerness of this may make it more “wearable” for more people, and according to OCC, it’s supposed to have a glaze finish to be in line that’s almost gauzy–so it’s not designed to be opaque. The consistency had more slip than other Metallic Lip Tars, and it felt a bit like the Stained Gloss Lip Tars but with a metallic finish because of the glossier, higher slip feel. I applied two thin layers to get semi-sheer color that was still even; more than that, and it started to look uneven and noticeable color settled into lip lines. Fragmented lasted for five hours when I wore it.
It will be available at Comic Con in San Diego, but it will make its full debut in August at Sephora and OCC.
The sheerness of this may make it more "wearable" for more people, and it would be an easier shade to use over and under your favorite lipsticks and glosses.

MAC Illustrated Nude Lip Bag ($39.50) contains a full-sized Lipstick, Lipglass, and Lip Pencil, plus a medium-sized makeup bag. The value of the color products is $45, while the bag is very similar in size and material to the recently released Illustrated bags that retailed for $36, so the total (maximum) value is $81. This set was actually quite interesting, because the lipstick and lipgloss aren’t similar in color, so they can be mixed in varying degrees to get several different variations on a warmer coral.
Naked Proof is described as a “neutral pink-beige [with a Cremesheen finish].” It’s a warm-toned, pink-tinged coral with a satiny finish and light sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage and wore for four hours. It was very slightly drying on me, which is my typical experience with the Cremesheen finish, so if you find them normally hydrating, this should be fine for you. Chanel Interlude is darker. MAC Reel Sexy is lighter, pinker. MAC Razzledazzler is similar. Burberry Devon Sunset is similar. See comparison swatches. (This shade is limited edition and exclusive to this set.)
Drawn to Chic is described as a “bright warm pink.” It’s a warm-toned, pink-coral with a glossy sheen and no shimmer. It had opaque color coverage, and it didn’t settle into lip lines very noticeably. It lasted four and a half hours on me. The consistency was slightly thick and tacky. MAC Fever Isle is shimmery. Revlon Papaya is slightly sheerer. MAC Star Quality is pinker. Hourglass Nectar is similar. See comparison swatches. (This shade is limited edition and exclusive to this set.)
Boldly Bare is described as a “reddish brown.” It’s a rosy, peach-brown with a matte finish. It had good color payoff, and it applied fairly well–it isn’t particularly flatterong on lips alone, but it works well as a base for lipstick to adhere to. MAC’s Lip Pencils usually last five to seven hours on me alone. Urban Decay Deep is darker, browner. See comparison swatches. (This shade is part of the permanent range and can be purchased separately if desired.)

MAC Illustrated Pink Lip Bag ($39.50) contains a full-sized Lipstick, Lipglass, and Lip Pencil, plus a medium-sized makeup bag. The value of the color products is $45, while the bag is very similar in size and material to the recently released Illustrated bags that retailed for $36, so the total (maximum) value is $81. The gloss merely lightens Girl About Town, but it’s very subtle, so I don’t know if it’s really the best pairing, especially as the thickness of Picture Pink gives the finished look a very thick, almost goopy, finish.
Girl About Town is described as a “bright blue-fuchsia [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a bold, fuchsia pink with blue undertones and a satiny finish. It has rich, opaque color coverage, and it wore six hours well on me and left behind a stain. MAC Pink Poodle is lighter. MAC Rare Exotic is similar. Buxom Exhibitionist is brighter/lighter. See comparison swatches. (This is part of the permanent range.)
Picture Pink is described as a “clear pink.” It’s a light, milky pink with a creamy consistency and finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, but it settled into lines and looked uneven. It’s the type of gloss that is best applied over another lip product (like a lipstick or lip pencil), because on its own, it’s a mess. It wore for four hours on me. MAC likes their milky pinks, so there is no shortage of dupes. MAC Infinitely Likeable is more neutral. MAC The Wee Coquette is lighter. MAC Stay Sweet is very similar. MAC Pink Fade is cooler-toned. MAC Fashion Scoop is sheerer. See comparison swatches.
Embrace Me is described as a “vivid fuchsia.” It’s a vibrant, nearly neon, fuchsia with a matte finish. It had rich, full color coverage. I reviewed this in March here. Its strength is longevity and color payoff, but it’s a bit dry and is drying when worn alone. Urban Decay Anarchy is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

The finish is lightly glossy–a healthy sheen but not a full-on high-shine finish like a true gloss would have–and gives lips a smooth, plump look. The consistency is lightly creamy and glides on with full color coverage in one stroke. Provocateur wore well for six and a half hours, and it left behind a red stain that persisted for another two hours or so. The formula is nicely hydrating and very comfortable to wear, and there was no scent or taste.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick ($16.00 for 0.12 oz.) has been launched again with the So Supreme collection, and there are five limited edition shades and one repromoted shade (that is also part of the permanent range). All of the shades felt consistent with the Sheen Supreme formula, except Pret-a-Pretty, which had a drier consistency and a lot less glossiness/shine. The formula tends to be comfortable to wear with a fair amount of slip and creaminess, and they’re not drying but not particularly hydrating in my experience. I typically get between three to four hours of wear with this formula, with brighter or deeper shades lasting four hours or slightly longer, and then very pale or pastel-like shades lasting around three hours. I’ll be testing these shades for wear over the week and will update with exact times, so the ratings are subject to change, but I would not expect drastic changes.
Candy Apple is described as a “midtonal warm plum.” It’s a brightened, muted reddish plum with a glossy finish. You might say there’s a little plum in it, which gives it that muted feel, but it’s still rather red and vibrant. Urban Decay Manic is deeper, redder. Chanel Dialogue is redder. Revlon Wild Watermelon is a bit brighter. Guerlain Chamade is redder. See comparison swatches.
Gotta Dash! is described as “pale clean coral.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-orange with very subtle pink tones–but it is more peach than it is a pink-coral. If you have really pink lips naturally, I expect this to be closer to coral on you. It had mostly opaque color coverage. The lighter color paired with the higher slip consistency does mean little lines can be created if you press your lips together. This shade is part of the permanent range. MAC Naked Proof is less glossy. Chanel Sentiment is similar but less glossy. Edward Bess Forbidden Flower is warmer. MAC Sweet & Sour is more matte, lighter. MAC Reel Sexy is more matte, pinker,. Burberry Pink Apricot is more matte, darker. See comparison swatches.
Playtime is described as a “bright coral pink.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with cool, blue undertones and fine shimmer. It had mostly full color coverage. OCC Lovecraft is metallic. NYX Pink Lyric is darker, pinker. Maybelline Pink Pop is lighter, as is MAC Divine Choice. MAC Outrageously Fun is a touch more magenta. MAC Naughty Saute is cooler-toned, lighter. OCC Narcissus is purpler. See comparison swatches. Long-time MAC fans may remember Slimshines, which is a formula I compared to this formula when it originally came out (they’re not quite similar), and Kissable was one of the few I had–and this shade immediately reminded me of it; Kissable is glossier with more shimmer and is, perhaps, a smidgen lighter, but they are comparable.
Pleasurefruit is described as a “bright warm pink.” It’s a brightened, medium fuchsia-pink with subtle warm undertones. It had mostly opaque color coverage. Revlon Sorbet is similar. MAC Lickable is cooler-toned. MAC Impassioned is more matte, brighter. Guerlain Gigi is redder. See comparison swatches.
collection, and there are five shades and one repromoted shade (that is also part of the permanent range).
Pret-a-Pretty is described as a “soft warm pink.” It’s a pale, pink-tinged beige with a satin finish. Though it is the Sheen Supreme formula, it actually was quite a dull sheen rather than the shinier, glossier finish the others had. This one was the least forgiving, as it tended to settle into lip lines and emphasize any imperfections. It was mostly opaque but there was noticeable sheerness. MAC Of Beauty is pinker. MAC You’re Perfect Already is pinker, darker. MAC Fun Finds is more beige. MAC Myth is similar. MAC Innocence Beware is less pink, slightly darker. See comparison swatches.
Sweet Grenadine is described as a “bright orange.” It’s a slightly muted orange with a glossy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage with some translucency. Of all the shades, it had the thinnest consistency and sat best on the lips. MAC Tart & Trendy is brighter, lighter. See comparison swatches.
It's a brightened, muted red with a glossy finish. You might say there's a little plum in it, which gives it that muted feel, but it's still rather red and vibrant.

Chanel Esprit (88) Rouge Coco Shine ($34.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “burgundy.” It’s a medium-dark, raspberry pink with cool undertones and a soft sheen. This shade is supposed to be one of the more pigmented/opaque shades of the Rouge Coco Shine formula, which is reflected in its coverage, as it is nearly opaque applied. Esprit lasted four and a half hours well, and it was lightly hydrating while worn. The consistency was creamy with a fair amount of slip and applied evenly. Chanel Fiction is warmer. Revlon Raspberry Pie is cooler-toned, more raspberry. Guerlain Lou-Ling is darker. Guerlain Guet-Apens is slightly darker. Chanel Taffeta Rose is somewhat brighter. See comparison swatches.
Instinct (86) Rouge Coco Shine ($34.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “soft blue pink.” It’s a soft, light-medium beige-pink with neutral-cool undertones. As part of the normal range of Rouge Coco Shines, it is supposed to be sheer, which it is. It really doesn’t look like it alters my natural lip color much, other than giving it a natural sheen and darkening it slightly. It seems to disappear in an hour and a half (judging primarily by shine, since color is a difficult indicator!), and after wearing it a few times in a row, I found it just slightly moisturizing. Revlon Pink Lemonade is more opaque. NARS Mitzi is more shimmery. MAC Peach Blossom is similar. Guerlain Rose Desir is pinker. See comparison swatches.

I feel like it’s been awhile since Guerlain has released any new/limited Rouge Gs, so I’m happy to see three releasing as part of the fall collection. I received this one yesterday, and I bought the other two from a Neiman Marcus store (but they’re shipping them here, so I’m not sure exactly when it will arrive–hopefully soon!). It’s incredibly pigmented and nearly opaque in a single pass. The consistency is lightly creamy but not heavy. It wears well for six and a half hours, and it leaves a stain that lingers for another two and a half hours. It’s nicely hydrating, and it is very comfortable to wear. I didn’t experience any feathering or bleeding while wearing the color. The lipstick is scented with violets.
This shade will be releasing online and in-stores this month, and Neiman Marcus stores seem to have the collection in-store already as well as online.

OCC Black Metal Dahlia Metallic Lip Tar ($18.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “blackened burgundy with red pearl.” It’s a deep, burgundy red with ruby red and berry shimmer. The finish is rather metallic. The color coverage was semi-opaque, and this looked somewhat splotchy/uneven applied. After three and a half hours, I did feel the slight grit from all of the sparkle, but the color was holding strong and none of the sparkles had migrated. It wore well for five and a half hours, and then it was still quite noticeable, just not as intense–more of a stain–for another two hours. I found it slightly drying. MAC Soulfully Rich doesn’t have the metallic shimmer and is browner. MAC Dominate is purpler, less red. OCC Black Dahlia is similar in color but not finish (as it should be!). See comparison swatches.
Role Play Metallic Lip Tar ($18.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep maroon with red pearl.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned red with a slight metallic finish. It’s actually the least metallic shade I’ve tried in the range–it’s definitely still shimmery, but it’s more of a sheen. It had fully opaque color payoff and applied evenly. It wore well for five hours and left a stain behind. It was neither drying nor hydrating. NARS Majella is brighter. NARS Amsterdam is browner. NARS Mascate is cooler-toned. NARS Dressed to Kill is somewhat similar, more muted. MAC Prolong is similar. MAC Runaway Red is darker. MAC Deeply Adored is similar, more matte. Guerlain Luxure is slightly browner. Dior Diorling is similar. See comparison swatches.

The consistency is so lovely–creamy with slip but not so much slip that it just slides around. It stays in place, doesn’t bleed or feather during the six hours it wears (and it stains a bit fuchsia for another hour or so), and is such a comfortable, nicely hydrating formula to wear. The glossy finish gives lips a really plump, luscious look. Swinger is fully opaque with little product needed in order to achieve full color coverage. The formula is also unscented and has no taste, and as a little bonus, it’s a bit more product at 0.13 oz. than most lipsticks.
Swinger is yet another excellent shade in Buxom's Full-Bodied range! It's incredibly pigmented, long-wearing, and comfortable the entire time you have it on.

I’m seriously making a pact between you and me that I am not to buy any more Le Rouges until Sephora does their % off during the holiday season, except any limited edition shades that I’m unable to resist. I only picked this one up to qualify for free shipping when I bought the limited edition summer shades from Givenchy’s own website (threshold was $75), but it is a stunner. A very classic take on red with the signature glossy sheen of the Le Rouge range. That sheen gives it such a smooth, plump, and juicy effect on the lips; color just looks smoother, more even, and lovely on lips. Some lipsticks can catch or emphasize imperfections on the lip, but this is a formula that masks imperfections. The consistency is lightly creamy but not too slippery, so it doesn’t move around or feather while worn. It’s nicely hydrating, wears a solid six hours (with a residual stain that lingers after), and is incredibly pigmented.

Madame Reve (862) Rouge G Lipstick ($49.50 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium pink with subtle cool undertones and pearly finish. It had a soft sheen that gave it a luminous look. The color coverage was mostly opaque, and this shade lasted four and a half hours on me and was moisturizing while worn. . I sent an inquiry over to see if we can get clarification on this. MAC Pleasurefruit is brighter. Urban Decay Turn On is lighter, cool-toned. MAC Speak Louder is darker. MAC Plumful is less pink. See comparison swatches.
Updated @ 10:49AM PST: The third fall color is indeed Madame Reve (862) and not Madame Fascine (863) (which does not exist).
It's a medium-dark, coral-red with a soft, pearly finish and warm undertones. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and it wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating while worn.
