Tom Ford Quiver Lip Color Shine
Tom Ford Quiver Lip Color Shine

Tom Ford Quiver Lip Color Shine ($48.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a slightly warm-toned, medium pink with a warm golden shimmer and a luminous, lightly frosted finish. Chanel Paradis doesn’t have the same golden shimmer. Chanel Flirt is lighter, less shimmery. Dior Candide is lighter, less warm-toned. Guerlain Rose Ensoleil lacks the gold shimmer. Le Metier de Beaute Fiji is a satin (no shimmer). Revlon Cotton Candy is a paler pink but has golden shimmer. NYX Stella is slightly warmer but similar in color to the base color of this shade (no gold shimmer). See comparison swatches here.

It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage when I applied to my lips; you can only see a shadow of my lip freckle, but the formula is lightly translucent so some of the natural lip color will come through. The Lip Color Shine formula is supposed to hydrate, add shine, and some color–but it isn’t an opaque formula, so the pigmentation is in line with what the brand has touted the formula as. The consistency is lightly creamy–a cross between a balm and lipstick–and glides across the lips easily without pulling or tugging while feeling comfortable to wear. Quiver lasted four hours on me, which is average for a lipstick, but it is slightly longer than formulas with similar balmy consistencies. It was very hydrating, which is probably it’s biggest selling point (at this price point). It is vanilla scented but has no discernible taste.

Those who find corals too often warm/orange may like how pink Quiver appears; it has a golden shimmer that makes it seem a bit more like a coral than a true pink, but the base is very pink.

Burberry Bright Plum (15) Lip Cover Lipstick
Burberry Bright Plum (15) Lip Cover Lipstick

Burberry Bright Plum (15) Lip Cover Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep, berry wine with cool, pink undertones and a luminous finish. MAC Rebel is more berry, less red. NARS Palais Royal is redder. NARS Valparaiso is lighter, less red. MAC Red Dwarf is lighter, pinker. MAC Endless Drama is browner. MAC What Joy is darker. Guerlain Gigolo is a bit darker, less berry-hued. Guerlain Bee is purpler, lighter. Chanel L’Impatiente is darker. See comparison swatches here.

Burberry’s lipstick formula is always a joy to test, because it’s very consistent (which always makes it easier!) in quality: long-wearing, lightly hydrating, rich color, and is comfortable to wear. Bright Plum is mostly opaque with rich, even color that applies evenly and smoothly. The consistency of the lipstick is lightly creamy, so it glides across lips without pulling or tugging, but it’s not so slippery that it will bleed or feather while it’s worn. With this shade, it lasted six and a half hours rather well, and then it started to fade and left behind a strong stain for another hour or so. It does have a slight floral scent but no discernible taste.

Illamasqua ESP Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Illamasqua ESP Lipstick
Illamasqua ESP Lipstick

Illamasqua ESP Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “vivid violet.” It’s a rich, violet purple with pink undertones and a matte finish. Nothing that I could think of seemed to come very close–this is very purple; not pink, not fuchsia, and then not ultra dark/vampy. OCC Belladonna was the closest, but it’s lighter. MAC Potent Fig and MAC Fervent are much darker, less violet. MAC Violetta and MAC Heroine are both much pinker. Illamasqua Kontrol is purpler, grayer, and quite a bit darker. See swatch comparisons here.

Though it’s a more unique color, and anyone who’s been on the hunt for a brightened purple will be tempted by ESP, the texture is very, very unforgiving. It’s incredibly dry, which made application problematic, wear uncomfortable, and the color looked dry and patchy applied. I would highly recommend laying down a smidgen of balm first–just enough to make everything smooth over better–and applying the color with a lip brush. It’s very easy to break the bullet because of how much pressure you exert just to swipe the lipstick across the lips (it tugs, drags, and pulls). It will come as no surprise but this is uncomfortable to wear, because it feels like it is clinging to the lips and is somewhat drying (but not as drying as it looks). The upside, I guess, is because it is clingy, whatever you do apply will last quite awhile (six hours for me).

Illamasqua Posture Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Illamasqua Posture Lipstick
Illamasqua Posture Lipstick

Illamasqua Posture Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “cool mauve.” It’s a cool-toned, gray-tinted lavender with a matte finish. MAC Nocturnal Instincts is pinker, not as cool-toned/gray. MAC Fresh Amour is more opaque, cooler-toned. MAC Lavender Whip is pinker. OCC Digitalis is also pinker. See comparison swatches here.

The good news is that this wasn’t nearly as dry as ESP! It has mostly opaque color payoff, and the color applied fairly evenly and smoothly. The consistency of the formula is a bit dry and stiff, so it will tug a bit at the lip, but it doesn’t drag or catch to the point where application is really difficult or the resulting coverage is patchy. The drier texture does cling somewhat to lips, but it didn’t actually seem drying over the five and a half hours it lasted on my lips. I didn’t see this listed on Sephora’s website, so I’m not sure if it will be launching at Sephora with the rest of the Paranomal collection or not, but it is available on Illamasqua’s website.

The texture was on the drying side in terms of feel, but it didn't dry out my lips when I wore it. It's an interesting color, so you may be more willing to work with this in exchange for the more unique coloring. I'd recommend lighting dabbing a balm on top or underneath to make it easier to wear and work with.

Maybelline Infra-Red ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color

Maybelline Infra-Red ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is an orange-toned red with a glossy, luminous finish. MAC Everyday Diva is lighter.MAC Ruffian Red has gold shimmer. MAC Red Racer is more neutral. MAC Must Be Red is less bright. MAC Cockney isn’t quite as opaque but is very close in color. Guerlain Genna is slightly more orange.  See comparison swatches.

It was rich in color with opaque color coverage. The consistency is lightly creamy with some slip, so it glided across lips easily and distribued even, opaque color well. Because of the creaminess, it leaves behind a slightly glossy finish.  Despite the slip, it still wears quite well, as Infra-Red lasted six hours on me and left behind a noticeable stain that lingered for another hour and a half.  I found the formula lightly hydrating during the time I wore it.  It has a lightly fruity scent but no discernible taste.

Maybelline Orange Edge ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color
Maybelline Orange Edge ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color

Maybelline Orange Edge ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark orange with strong red undertones and a luminous sheen. Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin is very similar–it doesn’t read quite as glossy but you don’t need both. MAC Scarlet Ibis is close in color but matte in finish. MAC Sail La Vie is mostly matte and a touch lighter. OCC Psycho is a bit more orange and matte. See comparison swatches.

Whew, boy! Orange Edge is incredibly pigmented in a single swipe; you’ll have no trouble getting full color coverage with this shade.  It is similar enough to Vibrant Mandarin (which is permanent) that if you can’t find this particular shade locally, I’d consider opting for the permanent shade instead.  The consistency was creamy with some slip and slickness, so it glided easily across the lips without tugging or pulling.  It also applied with even, smooth color coverage, and it felt comfortable to wear.  Orange Edge lasted six hours well on me and left a reddish stain for another hour.

As a note:  the packaging of this one was off; the bullet twisted up very, very slowly and wasn’t normal at all but not totally broken.

MAC Sushi Kiss Lipstick
MAC Sushi Kiss Lipstick

MAC Sushi Kiss Lipstick ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone coral cream [with a satin finish].” It’s a light-medium, peach-orange with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had rich, opaque color, and the consistency was creamy, medium-weight, and lasted four hours on me. NARS Lodhi is darker but similar in tone. NARS Lodhi is lighter, less orange. MAC Style Surge is darker and pinker. Burberry Pink Apricot is more beige, less orange. See comparison swatches.

Sweet & Sour is described as a “soft peach cream [with a Cremesheen finish].” It’s a lightened, pink-tinted peach with a creamy, natural sheen. It is rich in color with full color coverage, and it was creamy, medium-weight, and lasted four and a half hours when I tested it earlier today. NARS Bolero is more matte and pinker. NARS Biscayne Park is warmer, more peach/orange. MAC Shy Girl is sheerer but similar. MAC Reel Sexy is pinker. MAC In a Heartbeat is slightly darker. MAC Ever Hip is pinker. Estee Lauder Naked is more matte, slightly pinker. Burberry Pink APricot is a bit darker, slightly browner. See comparison swatches.

Tangerine Dream is described as a “warm orange cream [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a brightened, yellow-orrange with a soft sheen. It’s mostly opaque, even though it’s a Lustre, but there is some translucency to the color overall. It wore three and a half hours on me, which is good as far as Lustres go. It was slightly drying, though. MAC Sheer Mandarin is a bit lighter, not as bright. MAC Sounds Like Noise is darker, more rorange. OCC Banjee is very similar–slightly yellower. MAC Razzledazzler Lipstick
MAC Razzledazzler Lipstick

MAC Razzledazzler Lipstick ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “light cream peach [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a lightly pink-tinted, light-medium coral with a luminous sheen. It has mostly opaque color payoff but there is an underlying translucency and slight sheerness that is more Lustre-like. In the past, this shade has lasted two and a half to three hours on me, but I will be re-testing today and will update with a wear time in the afternoon. Tom Ford Frolic is warmer, sheerer. MAC Style Surge is brighter, warmer. MAC Reel Sexy is lighter, pinker. MAC In a Heart Beat is lighter. MAC Cut a Caper is pinker. MAC Coral Bliss is slightly lighter. MAC So Vain is similar. Estee Lauder Naked is lighter and more matte. Burberry Devon Sunset is less pink. See comparison swatches.

Tart & Trendy ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “bright neutral orange cream [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a brightened, medium orange with a luminous finish and warm, slightly yellow undertones. It had mostly opaque color payoff with just a bit of sheerness–but it was definitely more pigmented than the average Lustre (which may be a happy accident for some!). I started my morning off wearing this, and it lasted three and a half hours on me. It felt somewhat drying (which is my typical experience with Lustres, so if you usually find them moisturizing, then we have opposite experiences, on average). Maybelline Electric Orange is redder in tone and a bit darker. MAC Booyah is slightly darker and more red-toned. MAC Good to Go has a strong red undertone and is darker. MAC Fashion Nomad is bit brighter/more intense. MAC Sounds Like Noise is lighter, yellower. MAC Saigon Summer is more muted and sheerer (which contributed to how much more muted it looked in comparison). MAC Morange is darker and redder. See comparison swatches.

Neon Orange ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “bright clean orange [with an Amplified finish].” It’s a bold, medium orange with strong, warm red undertones and a natural sheen. It had full, opaque color coverage, and it was lightly creamy. This shade is permanent at PRO stores (and regular customers now have access to the majority of the PRO range online). In the past, this shade has worn five to six hours on me. Shades like Maybelline Orange Edge, Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin, MAC Good to GoMAC Morange, and OCC Psycho are all rather comparable to each other. Shades like Maybelline Electric Orange, MAC Booyah, and MAC Fashion Nomad are a bit lighter, less reddened. Then, shades like MAC Scarlet ibis and MAC Sail La Vie are slightly redder and appear a bit darker. See comparison swatches.

Flamingo ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “light milky bright coral [with a Lustre finish].” It’s a pink-tinged coral with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a slight, underlying translucency that gave it a lighter look applied to the lips (not as heavy-looking as an opaque, creamy shade). This shade is a bit of a chameleon, and it will really go pinker/more coral depending on your natural lip color. theBalm Strawbery is pinker, darker. NYX Stella is a bit pinker. MAC Blossom Culture is slightly darker. MAC Sunny Seoul is darker and pinker. MAC Cut-a-Caper is warmer. MAC Coral Bliss is lighter, less pink. MAC Betty Bright is brighter. Guerlain Rose Desir is warmer, less pink. Chanel Flirt is more muted. See comparison swatches.

P.S. — I will update with official wear times later on this afternoon; a few of these are repromotes/pre-existing shades, so I’m using the ratings from my initial test.

Chanel Amant Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Amant Rouge Coco Lipstick

Chanel Amant Rouge Coco Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, coral-red with subtle warm undertones and a natural sheen. MAC Must Be Red is brighter, warmer. Guerlain Rouge Sensuel is less pigmented, lighter. Guerlain Coque d’Or is more shimmery. Dior Lady is slightly darker. See comparison swatches.

This is one of five shades in chanel’s Avant-Premiere collection, which are all new and part of the permanent range. The Rouge Coco formula is supposed to glide on, be hydrating and moisturizing, and provide full coverage color. Amant was opaque, and the consistency was lightweight, creamy, and applied even, smooth color without pulling or tugging on the lips. This shade lasted five and a half hours on me, and it did leave a light stain behind. I found it moderately hydrating while I wore it, but what really stood out to me was just how smooth the color looked applied to lips. It really looked like it had melted and combined my natural lips so it never looked heavy.

Revlon Cruise Collection ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick
Revlon Cruise Collection ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick

Revlon Cruise Collection ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick ($9.99 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium, warm-toned coral with subtle golden copper shimmer. NARS Beautiful Liar is warmer, more orange. MAC Lady at Play is lighter. MAC Hibiscus is brighter. Guerlain Rouge Sensuel is redder. Guerlain Nahema is lighter. Guerlain Chamade is similar. Guerlain Bal de Mai is darker. Burberry Pink Amber is pinker, less shimmery. See comparison swatches.

The texture is slick, slightly tacky, and has a natural sheen but nothing too shiny or glossy (but not totally matte). It feels somewhat thin, and it applies and looks a bit like a lip stain/lipstick hybrid. The color was semi-sheer to semi-opaque. Initially, I was loving the texture, feel, and look of this product, but after wearing it for a few hours, I was less enamored. The major problem with the formula is that it sucked the moisture right out of my lips (which were hydrated and smooth prior to application), and the drier my lips became, the more uneven and flaky the lip color started to look. It managed to last for about five hours, though it became progressively unflattering over the last two hours of wear. The formula is, unfortunately, touted as long-wearing with lots of hydration.

Tom Ford Willful Lip Color Shine Review, Photos, Swatches

Tom Ford Willful Lip Color Shine
Tom Ford Willful Lip Color Shine

Tom Ford Willful Lip Color Shine ($48.00 for 0.12 oz.) is brightened, medium-dark coral-red with warm undertones and a glossy shine. Chanel Amant is more matte, brighter. MAC Hibiscus is shimmery. Guerlain Rouge Sensuel is less pigmented. Guerlain Chamade is cooler. Guerlain Bal de Mai is pinker. See comparison swatches.

The Lip Color Shine formula is Tom Ford’s way of giving you lighter-weight, sheerer color with an ultra-hydrating formula. Willful actually packed quite a bit of color with mostly opaque color that had some translucency that allowed the natural lip color to come through slightly. For those who found other shades of the range too sheer for the price point, you might like the opacity of this one. It lasted just over four and a half hours well on me before starting to fade. It was very hydrating and comfortable to wear with a creamy consistency that felt slightly slick but not too wet, so it didn’t bleed or settle into lip lines.

Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) Le Rouge Review, Photos, Swatches

Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) Le Rouge
Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) Le Rouge

Givenchy Rose Dressing (202) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “bright coral pink.” It’s a bold, brightened pink-coral with a luminous shine and a creamy finish. MAC Elegant Accent is warmer, less pink. MAC Watch Me Simmer is very similar. MAC Hear to Heart is slightly pinker. MAC Force of Love is pinker. Guerlain Giulette is lighter, more shimmery. Chanel Phoenix is glossier. See comparison swatches.

Le Rouge is supposed to have a semi-matte finish, be long-wearing, and have rich color. It’s fully opaque in one stroke, and it has a lightweight, creamy consistency that’s comfortable to wear and hydrating while worn. Rose Dressing lasted five and a half hours on me. There’s a very faint scent that’s supposed to be mimosa and black currant, but I was hardly able to detect it in the tube and definitely not when applied.

One of its “features” is the leather wrapped around the tube, which while it looks nice, feels thin and prone to scratches and tears. Because of how thin it felt, and I would be afraid to toss it in a bag, because I could leave imprints and scratch it with my nails alone (I tested it).

The consistency is amazing: creamy with just enough slip to never tug or pull at lips, plus it's packed with pigment and delivers one-stroke color.

Chanel Ce Soir Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Ce Soir Rouge Coco Lipstick

Chanel Ce Soir Rouge Coco Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted plum with pink tones, subtle warm undertones, and a natural sheen. NARS Casablanca is darker, less pink. NARS Falbala is sheerer, more shimmery. NARS Mayflower is sheerer. MAC Craving is pinker, cooler. Chanel Bel Ami is warmer, less pink. Chanel Etole is darker, warmer. See comparison swatches.  The consistency was lightly creamy without being too slick or too wet, and it felt lightweight and comfortable applied–no heaviness or thickness from the creamy texture.  It was fully opaque, and Ce Soir wore for five hours and was lightly hydrating during that time.

Le Baiser Rouge Coco Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened, medium pink with subtle warm undertones (it seems to lean just slightly warm) and a soft, frosted finish. MAC Heart to Heart is warmer. MAC Force of Love is lighter. Chanel Enjouee is warmer, more coral. Guerlain Gourmandise is brighter, darker. See comparison swatches.  The texture of Le Baiser was only somewhat creamy–it was noticeably stiffer/drier compared to Ce Soir–which I expect is from the frost content in it.  It doesn’t tug or pull at lips; it’s just not as creamy.  The color applied with nearly opaque color (there is a very faint outline of my lip freckle coming through, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from afar).  It lasted five and a half hours, but it wasn’t hydrating (luckily, it wasn’t drying either).

Revlon Pink Lemonade Colorburst Lip Butter Review, Photos, Swatches

Revlon Pink Lemonade Colorburst Lip Butter
Revlon Pink Lemonade Colorburst Lip Butter

Revlon Pink Lemonade Colorburst Lip Butter ($6.49 for 0.12 oz.) is a pale, lightly warmed-up pink with a luminous sheen. MAC Dreaminess is more pigmented. MAC Angel is darker. Guerlain Beatrix is less pink. Guerlain Rose Desir is darker. Chanel Candide is pinker. Chanel Candeur is cooler. Chanel Magnolia is similar. Chanel Confidentielle is darker. Bobbi Brown Orchid Pink is cooler. See comparison swatches.

Pink Lemonade has semi-sheer color payoff that applied fairly evenly. It lightened my natural lip color but didn’t give it a heavy, pasty look as some pale shades can do. If a lot of beiges and pale pinks make you feel washed out, you may really like the sheerness and finish of this shade. It lasted a mere two hours, so you’ll need to be willing to reapply frequently. The consistency is slick, almost wet, and very balm-like, so it is easy to apply and slides right on (and this is likely why it tends to disappear more quickly than other lipsticks). It was lightly hydrating while worn.

Revlon Sorbet and Wild Watermelon Colorburst Lip Butters Review, Photos, Swatches

Revlon Sorbet Colorburst Lip Butter
Revlon Sorbet Colorburst Lip Butter

Revlon Sorbet Colorburst Lip Butter ($7.49 for 0.09 oz.) is a cool-toned, fuchsia pink with a luminous finish.
NARS Jardin des Plantes is brighter, redder. MAC Lickable is similar in color. Guerlain Champs-Elysees is brighter, more pigmented. Revlon Raspberry Pie is a bit darker, less bright. Revlon Lollipop is less red, not as bright. See comparison swatches.

Wild Watermelon Colorburst Lip Butter ($7.49 for 0.09 oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark coral-red with a luminous finish. There’s surprisingly little warmth in this color–there’s some, but it doesn’t turn orange. Maybelline Shocking Coral is brighter, more opaque. MAC Fusion Pink has an iridescence to it. Guerlain Rouge Sensuel is more orange. See comparison swatches.

Both shades had buildable color coverage that ranged from semi-sheer to semi-opaque. There’s a noticeable translucency, which is as expected for the formula (they’re not designed to be full coverage), so the natural lip color will come through. If you have naturally redder lips, I expect both shades will appear redder as a result. The consistency is lightly creamy with a fair amount of slip, so they feel more like a lip balm than a traditional lipstick and feel that way, too. They will slide around the lips somewhat, but I don’t have issues with the color fading or feathering–mostly that the wear time is on the shorter end. Sorbet lasted three and a half hours, which is good for a Lip Butter, but short for shades like this (normally, I’d get five to six hours). Wild Watermelon lasted three hours. They were lightly hydrating but only while worn.

Chanel Liaison Rouge Coco Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Liaison Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Liaison Rouge Coco Lipstick

Chanel Liaison Rouge Coco Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a warm, light-medium pink with a soft sheen. It’s warmer than a pure pink, but it’s too pink to really be a true coral. NYX Stella is lighter, less warm-toned. MAC Blossom Culture is sheerer, warmer. MAC Sunny Seoul is darker, pinker. MAC Betty Bright is brighter, slightly warmer. Guerlain Giuelette is darker, warmer. Bobbi Brown Pink Peony is darker.
See comparison swatches.

The consistency fell between lightly creamy and moderately creamy; it was noticeably stiff compared to the creamier shades in the formula, but it wasn’t the creamiest, either. It had mostly opaque color coverage, but it didn’t apply as evenly or as smoothly as the other shades I’ve recently reviewed. It lasted four hours, which is about average, and it was lightly hydrating while I wore it.

Flower Beauty Petal Kiss Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color

Flower Beauty Petal Kiss Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color ($6.98 for 0.10 oz.) is a warm-toned, rosy pink with a matte finish. Chanel Liaison is brighter. Giorgio Armani Blush is a smidgen darker, less matte. NARS Bolero is lighter. MAC Reel Sexy is warmer. MAC Haute Altitutde is shinier. MAC Coral Bliss is warmer. Bobbi Brown Miami Coral is glossier. See comparison swatches.

It has opaque color, and the consistency was just barely creamy, so there was some tugging and dragging during application. The real downside is that this is one of the most drying formulas I’ve come across, and with full disclosure, this is the only shade I’ve tried. I believe I bought another shade or two, but my lips weren’t just dried out but partially cracked, and I had to take a couple days off to let them heal–and I’m just not sure I want to go through all of that again. It smelled lightly like vanilla and baby powder. Petal Kiss wore for four and a half hours when I tested it.

Chanel Dialogue and Fiction Rouge Coco Shines Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Dialogue Rouge Coco Shine
Chanel Dialogue Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Dialogue Rouge Coco Shine ($34.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a subtly warm-toned, medium red. I think it’s almost neutral, so if you have a cooler complexion, it may read more neutral to neutral-cool. It had semi-opaque color payoff and yielded a good amount of color while having a slight translucency that gave it a lighter-weight look on the lips (true to the Rouge Coco Shine texture, feel, and look). It lasted four hours, which is good for a Shine in experience. Revlon Wild Watermelon is a bit lighter. Chanel Amant is slightly warmer. Guerlain Coque d’Or is more shimmery. Dior Lady is similar. See comparison swatches.

Fiction Rouge Coco Shine ($34.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a pinky-berry with cool undertones. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a light translucency, so the natural lip color will still influence the overall color that you see. It lasted around four hours on me. MAC Lush Life is darker. MAC Scan-delicious is pinker. Guerlain Lou-Ling is similar. Guerlain Pour Troubler is also similar. Guerlain Guet-Apens is darker. See comparison swatches.

These are two of eight new shades being added to the Rouge Coco Shine formula range, and the new shades are specifically designed to be more pigmented (“colour-rich”), as the Rouge Coco Shine formula normally has sheer color (by choice). The consistency is lightweight, creamy, and slick–it feels like a lip balm and lipstick hybrid, so it’s emollient and can slide around a bit. I didn’t have any issues with either of these deeper shades feathering or bleeding, though. They were lightly moisturizing, but Rouge Coco Shines are never quite as hydrating as touted for me.

Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) Le Rouge Review, Photos, Swatches

Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) Le Rouge
Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) Le Rouge

Givenchy Fuchsia Irresistible (205) Le Rouge ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “vibrant fuchsia.” It’s a bold, bright, cool-toned fuchsia with red tones and a satin sheen. NARS Carthage is slightly less bright. MAC Rare Exotic is cooler. MAC Lickable is lighter. Guerlain Champs-Elysees is redder. See comparison swatches.

I’m really quite enamored with the Le Rouge formula, and I suspect that next time Sephora has a sale going on, I’ll pick up a few more shades (assuming I can hold off until then!). Fuchsia Irresistible had rich, opaque color in nearly a single pass. The color was lightweight, comfortable, and wore for ages–nearly seven hours, plus left a residual stain. The consistency is creamy but doesn’t have too much slip, so it doesn’t bleed or feather. The formula looks lovely on the lips and really seems to give lips a smoother appearance overall, and it is hydrating when worn and for a couple of hours after it’s worn away. There’s a very faint scent that’s supposed to be mimosa and black currant, but I was hardly able to detect it in the tube and definitely not when applied.

Chanel Suspense Rouge Coco Shine
Chanel Suspense Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Suspense Rouge Coco Shine ($34.00 for 0.10 oz.) is brightened, fuchsia pink with a luminous sheen and cool undertones. It had mostly opaque color with some very light translucency. Suspense lasted just under four hours on me, which is longer than the average Rough Coco Shine and just under average for lipsticks in general (on me). Revlon Sorbet is a smidgen lighter, less pigmented. Too Faced So Berry Sexy is cooler-toned, less fuchsia. MAC Lickable is less red. Guerlain Gigi is brighter. Guerlain Champs-Elysees is darker. See comparison swatches.

Synopsis Rouge Coco Shine ($34.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a softly, warmed-up medium brown with faint shimmer. Once applied, it looks less brown and warmer and slightly rosy (because of the natural pink tones in my lip color). It had semi-opaque color payoff with some translucency, and it lasted for three hours on me. shu uemura Dream Orange is lighter. MAC Glamour Era is less shimmery. MAC Mellowarm is similar. Guerlain Gracieuse is lighter. Guerlain Brun Satin is less pigmented. Benefit Saucy is warmer. See comparison swatches.

These are two more of eight new shades being added to the Rouge Coco Shine formula range, and the new shades are specifically designed to be more pigmented (“colour-rich”), as the Rouge Coco Shine formula normally has sheer color (by choice).  The consistency is lightweight, thin, and very emollient, as they feel like a lip balm/lipstick hybrid.  Suspense was moderately hydrating on me, while Synopsis was lightly hydrating.   Both shades lasted longer than the sheerer shades wear on me, but they are still a bit short compared to regular lipsticks so be prepared for more frequent reapplication.
