Urban Decay Oblivion Vice Lipstick
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.011 oz.) is available in six finishes, and this post is highlighting the Mega Matte finish. This was a new finish that was first seen in the Gwen Stefani collaboration with the shade 714, which is the only pre-existing shade–there are 10 in total, 9 are new. I previously noted that while the color of 714 didn’t really change from range to range, the consistency was creamier in the new, Vice formula. It didn’t drag, tug, or otherwise feel painful to apply, which was largely my experience with 714 when launched in the Gwen Stefani collection.
My initial impressions of the Mega Matte finish are that it is a thinner, clingier formula that is drier and has the most matte finish out of all the finishes (that’s not a surprise). It has been the most drying while worn, though it isn’t the most drying formula I have tried. The thinner, drier texture makes it a less forgiving finish if you have any existing dryness, flaking, or the like on your lips, so it would be a good idea to exfoliate and put a bit of balm on prior to application (remove the balm with a tissue before applying the lipstick to get the same wear/finish). This finish also seemed to have more variance with some shades being really pigmented, others being mostly opaque, and some applying better or worse. About half or more aren’t what I’d consider to be matte; semi-matte, possibly satin even (see a shade like Vanity Kills). They have been wearing five to eight hours thus far.
The Mega Matte finish doesn’t feel like the rest of the finishes in the range, as it is noticeably drier and thinner with a little more stiffness but doesn’t really drag much on the lips.
