It was more of a satin than a matte, as it had some sheen. The texture was lightweight, moderately creamy, and glided on without dragging on the lips. It had good pigmentation, which distributed evenly across the lips. This shade wore well for four and a half hours but had some color pull into lip lines over time. It had good pigmentation, but some of the natural lip color was still visible. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy without being too slippery, and comfortable to wear. It had good pigmentation, but it did not apply as well as it should have–it emphasized lip lines as color pulled into them and looked uneven along the upper lip. Smashbox Be Legendary Matte Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is supposed to be a creamy, long-wearing, richly pigmented formula that’s lightweight and moisturizing. The texture has a more velvety feel compared to the Cream range, and the finish varied between matte and satin. The formula didn’t cling, but it often accentuated the appearance of lip lines and natural texture on the lips, and it was mostly a non-drying formula. The majority of the colors I tested had good pigmentation and longer wear. There was a very, very faint vanilla scent to them (I could only detect when the entire tube is untwisted) but no discernible taste.
