Maybelline Wickedly White Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a stark white with a matte finish. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a smooth, creamy consistency that glided across the lips without tugging, but it is more unforgiving applied directly to the lips–it’s something that will be better over a lip liner or primer, but it’s probably most usable as a layering or mixing shade to lighten other colors than worn on its own. It lasted for three hours on me, gathered in lip lines, and was neither drying nor hydrating. Bite Beauty Blanc (P, $24.00) is warmer (95% similar). It had good pigmentation with a creamy consistency that applied without tugging. The texture was lightweight and comfortable to wear, though it was not a hydrating formula. As it wears away, the color seems prone to settling into lip lines. This shade wore for three and a half hours on me. MAC Myth (P, $17.00) is warmer (95% similar). It had good pigmentation with a lightweight, creamy texture that applied well and looked even. This shade lasted for four and a half hours, and it didn’t settle into lip lines like the previous two shades did! The formula was not hydrating on me, but it also was not drying. It had rich, opaque pigmentation paired with a creamy texture that went on smoothly and evenly. This shade lasted for four and a half hours me and was neither drying nor hydrating. FORMULA OVERVIEW | Maybelline Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a new set of shades that’s supposed to have “one-stroke intensity” in an “opaque, creamy clay base.” For the most part, the shade range is mostly opaque to fully opaque with some falling short with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, more uneven coverage. The texture is smooth, creamy, lightweight, and it glides on without tugging or dragging; some shades feel more satiny while others have a bit more slip. Unfortunately, some of the ones in this review were particularly slippery, which made them harder to apply evenly. I’m a fan of the Color Sensational formulas, but the one thing that I’m not a fan of (and that can be a deal-breaker) is the scent, which is a very strong, sweet, lightly perfume-y scent that lingers and sometimes tastes soapy.
