Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Creme ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) falls short in two areas: not the 10-hour wear time claimed (more like four to six hours) nor “ultra-hydrating” as marketed. I’m always curious about the process a brand goes through before attaching such a specific claim and how they arrived at such a claim. If a lipstick lasted ten hours and was intensely hydrating, it would surely be a top notch formula, as that’s really the holy grail: long-wearing lip color that’s not just comfortable but moisturizing and improves the health of your lips as you wear it. You typically get really long-wear paired with a more drying/non-hydrating formula or a superbly hydrating formula with more middling wear. For the most part, the shades I tried were nicely pigmented, creamy enough to glide on easily, and were mostly non-drying (a few were drying over time). The formula has a sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste.
