OCC Pagan Lip Tar
OCC Pagan Lip Tar

OCC Pagan Lip Tar ($18.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “blackened purple.” It’s a deep, dark purple with cool undertones and a lightly shiny finish. This color also was prone to staining anything and everything it came into contact with nearly instantly, so be careful when applying! Illamasqua Kontrol (P, $24.00) was the only shade that was even worth mentioning, but it is a lot lighter and more muted. OCC Technopagan really doesn’t resemble this, just as a reference. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Unfortunately, I found Pagan to have a similar consistency to Vain, so it was thinner, a little runny, which made it harder to wear and apply. It also resulted in a glossier finish that lingered for awhile, even after using the smallest amount for coverage. It is very pigmented, but it was prone to sheering out/smearing as the color was thinner. I would recommend applying a lip primer or lip liner underneath this, which would help it cling and stay in place better. The color is certainly unique within the colors I’ve reviewed myself, but it is a more high maintenance lip color for application and wear. I experienced feathering after three hours of wear, which worsened as it wore on, though the color lasted for eight and a half hours with a substantial stain left behind.
