YSL Red is My Savior (110) Rouge Pur Couture SPF15 Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-red with warm undertones and a satin sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single, fluid stroke, which adhered evenly and smoothly over my lips without emphasizing lip texture or lip lines. The texture felt lightweight, creamy without being too slippery, and was comfortable to apply and to wear. The color stayed on well for five and a half hours and felt hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

$38.00/0.13 oz. - $292.31 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "rich color with intense hydration ... in just one stroke." The thing to know about this formula is that it is quite emollient and has a lot of slip; the formula almost applies itself as it glides quickly across the lips, though I sometimes found it too emollient and too slippery. That extra slip meant that some shades weren't as pigmented as anticipated or that color gathered in my lip lines. The wear ranged from four to six hours on average. I found the formula was usually on the hydrating side. They have a sweet, fruity scent that I'd describe as subtle but noticeable.

YSL Dial R E D (114) Rouge Pur Couture SPF15 Lipstick ($38.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, deeper orange-red with moderate, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had rich color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging or dragging during application. The consistency was creamy, lightweight, and smooth without being too heavy or too slippery. There was a smidgen of product that sank into my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable in person. It lasted nicely for five hours and felt moisturizing while worn.
