Mocha Pop

Clinique Mocha Pop Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark coral with moderate, warm undertones and fine, gold pearl throughout that gave it a more luminous sheen. The pigmentation was nearly opaque, while the texture was smooth, lightweight, and emollient without being too slippery. The color applied evenly and some of my lip lines appeared smoothed out as well. It stayed on nicely for four and a half hours and felt hydrating while worn.

Formula Overview

The formula is described as having "rich color" with a "smoothing primer" that "keeps lips comfortably moisturized." Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque color coverage in a single layer, and the shades that were a bit weaker were somewhat buildable. The deeper shades tended to perform the best, while a few of the lighter shades settled slightly into lip lines (not too noticeable, or not at all, in person).

Some shades were more smoothing than others, so I think the "smoothing primer" claim was the weakest and wasn't always met. The texture was lightweight, lightly creamy without being heavy or too slippery, and didn't tug during application. The formula was comfortable and hydrating while worn, and they lasted between four and six hours. There didn't seem to be any scent or taste.

Clinique Papaya Pop Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with moderate, gold pearl, which yielded a soft, metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which was somewhat buildable but never read fully opaque on me.

The lipstick had a lightweight, nourishing feel on my lips, while it had a lightly emollient consistency that glided easily over my lips. I didn’t find the formula to be as smoothing of my lip lines as some shades in the range, though. It lasted well for four hours and was moisturizing over time.

Clinique Blush Pop Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipstick ($19.50 for 0.13 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with moderate, warm undertones and a soft, luminous finish with very fine, barely-there pearl. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly to my lips without emphasizing my lip lines.

The texture was lightweight, creamy without being too slippery, and comfortable to apply in a fluid stroke as it did not tug. It wore well for five hours and was hydrating over time.
