NYX Whipped Caviar Matte Lipstick ($5.99 for 0.16 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. The consistency was smooth, creamy without being too slippery so it adhered well to the lips evenly. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and lasted for four and a half hours. The formula was comfortable to wear and neither drying nor hydrating.

The Matte Lipstick is supposed to be “highly pigmented” and have a “velvety, non-glossy” finish. In general, the formula has semi-opaque to opaque color coverage with a velvety texture that glides on without tugging but doesn’t have a lot of slip, so the lipstick won’t slide around while worn. The formula varied from non-drying to moderately drying with wear times that ranged from four to over six hours (deeper, reddish shades lasted quite long). It has a mint scent and no discernible taste. I noticed that the packaging had a tendency to twist up the lipstick too easily (even barely holding it) and sometimes would twist down as I would apply it directly from the tube.

NYX Shy Matte Lipstick ($5.99 for 0.16 oz.) is a light peach with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. it had good pigmentation, but the consistency was slightly chalky, despite feeling creamy and going on without tugging. It had a tendency to separate a bit in places, and it sunk into my lip lines within an hour and a half of wear. This shade did not wear down evenly, so it was a more high-maintenance shade that required frequent reapplication or else a lip liner underneath. It wore well for three hours on me decently and was non-drying.
